The AMPP Southern Ontario Chapter is dedicated to advancing the knowledge and expertise within the fields of material protection and performance, corrosion, engineering, and other related disciplines. As part of our commitment to nurturing the next generation of industry leaders, we are thrilled to offer three prestigious scholarships. These scholarships are designed to provide financial support and encouragement to students who demonstrate academic excellence, innovative thinking, and a passion for their chosen field.

Available Scholarships

AMPP Southern Ontario Academic Scholarship
$500

This scholarship is awarded to students who have shown outstanding academic performance in their studies related to material protection and performance.

AMPP Southern Ontario Merit Scholarship
$1000

This scholarship recognizes students who have not only excelled academically but have also demonstrated significant merit through extracurricular activities, internships, and research projects in relevant fields.

AMPP Southern Ontario Honours Scholarship
$1500

This prestigious scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved exceptional academic success and have made substantial contributions to the field through innovative projects, leadership roles, and a clear vision for the future.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Membership: Be a member of the AMPP Southern Ontario Student Chapter, the AMPP Southern Ontario Chapter, or a child of a member of the AMPP Southern Ontario Chapter.
  • Enrollment:  Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student at an accredited university or college in Ontario.
  • Field of Study:  Be pursuing a program related to material protection and performance, corrosion, engineering, or similar fields such as:
    ○ Materials Science
    ○ Chemical Engineering
    ○ Mechanical Engineering
    ○ Civil Engineering
    ○ Environmental Engineering
    ○ Metallurgy
    ○ Applied Chemistry
    ○ Industrial Engineering

Application Requirements:

Applicants must submit the following materials:

  • Completed Application Form: Ensure all sections of the application form are thoroughly filled out and all required documents are attached.
  • Proof of Enrollment:  Provide official documentation from your university or college confirming your current enrollment in an accredited program in Ontario.
  • Essay:  Submit a 300 to 500-word essay on the following topic: Essay Topic: "Describe your academic journey and how your studies contribute to the field of materials protection and performance. Highlight any relevant projects, experiences, or future aspirations, and explain how you envision making a positive impact in the industry."
    ○ The essay should reflect your personal experiences, achievements, and goals. Be sure to showcase your understanding of the field and your commitment to advancing it.

Submission Deadline:

All application materials for the 2024/2025 academic year must be submitted by May 1, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered, so please ensure your application is completed and submitted on time.

  • Extracurricular Activities:  Active participation in activities related to materials protection and performance, such as internships, research projects, or involvement in relevant organizations, will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated Interest: A clear commitment to pursuing a career in materials protection and performance must be evident. This includes a demonstrated passion for the field and a proactive approach to learning and professional development.
