The 1st Annual Association for Material Protection and Performance (AMPP) Southern Ontario Chapter Golf Tournament was a momentous occasion that brought together industry professionals for a day of golf, networking, and community engagement. After a two-year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was finally hosted on August 16, 2022, at the scenic Granite Ridge Golf Club in Milton, ON. The overwhelming support from the community, sponsors, and participants set the stage for a truly memorable event.
Event Overview
Venue and Atmosphere:
Granite Ridge Golf Club, designed by renowned Canadian golf architects Rene Muylaert and Dick Kirkpatrick, served as the perfect venue for the event. With its well-manicured greens and breathtaking views of the Niagara Escarpment, the course provided a stunning backdrop for the tournament. Despite early morning thunderstorms and grey skies, the weather cleared up, allowing participants to enjoy a full day of golf.

Arrival and Registration (Morning): The day began with a smooth registration process, followed by a delicious lunch at the Albatross Restaurant. The menu featured grilled chicken, hotdogs, sausages, hamburgers, and vegetarian options, catering to all tastes.

Golfing (1:00 PM – 5:30 PM): The tournament officially started at 1:00 PM, with Marshals guiding golfers to their designated starting holes. Participants enjoyed a competitive yet fun-filled afternoon on the course, showcasing their skills and engaging in friendly competition.

Dinner and Prizes (Evening): After a day on the greens, golfers returned to the Albatross Restaurant for a well-deserved dinner. The menu included grilled salmon steak, chicken, vegetarian risotto, seasonal vegetables, roasted potatoes, salad, pasta, and an array of pastries and pies for dessert. The evening concluded with an exciting prize raffle, featuring items such as tools, BBQ equipment, camping gear, small appliances, and more.
